Many CPQ tools have a good enough user interface so that most CPQ customers never investigate if they need something fancier beyond what their standard CPQ tool offers. This can be a big mistake because you want your users to use and adopt the CPQ tool, right? This will be required to provide your customer a unique, smooth and pleasant e-Commerce experience.

In some cases it is more obvious why CPQ customers look for an enhanced user interface. One of these examples is SAP’s configurator, while powerful in it’s features and large in it’s installed base the standard user interface is very basic. Hence as an SAP CPQ tool user you might not want to expose the standard user interface to your users. Some other configurators like Oracle CPQ (BigMachines) and Apttus offer decent interfaces but nothing fancy either. If none of these tools provide the user experience you are looking for then it’s time to look for alternative options.

In next week’s post we will explore some questions you should ask yourself before you go off and make any investment.
